If there is a need to reduce weight, everyone knows that dinner should be eaten as little as possible, while breakfast and lunch during the day are more limited. An American nutritionist warned that the key to reducing weight is not only what to eat for lunch, but also when to eat.
Lena Bakovic, a nutritionist in Florida, USA, said that the "best lunch time" should be about 4 to 5 hours after breakfast.
She said that if a person gets up at 7 a.m. and gets rich breakfast at 8 a.m., he will feel the signal of hunger from about 12 to 1 a.m. If lunch time is delayed, it may affect the body's reassurance of food and cause people to skip dinner or eat snacks near bedtime.
Spanish scientists also found that people who eat lunch late burn less calories under static conditions, and those who eat lunch at 1 pm and those who eat at 4:30 pm have a lower static merchandise rate. According to research in the journal Nutrients, blood sugar levels in late lunches are less stable over the day and turn carbohydrates into energy slower.
Previous studies have also shown that not eating for a long time may lead to increased blood sugar during eating, especially when the meal is rich in carbohydrates. Rising blood sugar will increase the risk of a sharp drop in blood sugar later that day, which may prompt the release of hormones that cause extreme hunger and make it easier for people to eat snacks.
Bakovic said when he was visiting that eating lunch shortly after breakfast may lead to an increase in hunger that afternoon and before dinner, which may make people choose less healthy snacks. However, if lunch is late and close to dinner, it may cause some people to skip dinner and feel hungry before bed, which may prompt people to eat high-salty or high-sugar and lower-nutritional foods.
She also warned that eating at different times every day may affect health because it may interfere with the physiological clock that adjusts the body's night shift. Just as regular sleep-wake cycles are important for the body’s synchronous operation, so eating time is so good, so eating lunch at the same time every day is beneficial because this steady sluggish and footing signal synchronizes with the sleep-wake cycle.
