According to media reports, TSMC’s former senior deputy general manager of technology research and development and corporate strategy development, Luo Weiren, was suspected of using his authority to take away photocopied materials on advanced processes such as 2 nanometers before retiring, and was rumored to be backing Intel. Minister of Economic Affairs Gong Mingxin said in an interview today that personnel have been dispatched to understand the actual situation.
According to media reports, 75-year-old Luo Weiren retired from TSMC at the end of July, but before retiring, he used his senior management authority to request briefings from his subordinates, and photocopied a large amount of confidential information related to the most advanced process technologies such as 2 nanometers, A16, and A14 nanometers and took them away. TSMC is searching for evidence and is preparing to take action against him. There are also rumors in the industry that Luo Weiren has gone to work for his old employer Intel at the end of October.
Gong Mingxin attended the event in the afternoon and was interviewed. He said that he had asked employees to understand the actual situation this morning, but it is better for the company (TSMC) to explain the actual situation to the outside world, which can be regarded as respecting them.
