This year, Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit launched platforms such as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Snapdragon X2 Elite, and there is another thing worth paying attention to: Google's high-level hints that ChromeOS and Android will be combined to create a new PC operating system.
Google Android Ecology President Sameer Samat talked about this matter at the end of the Qualcomm theme speech, and Qualcomm executive Cristiano Amon also said that this incident is finally coming true.
"If you think of the form of a laptop, we have been operating ChromeOS for a long time, and we have been very committed to this platform and learned a lot from it. On the other hand, Android tablets are quite successful, and they are becoming more and more like production tools. So the opportunity we see is how to accelerate all the AI progress we have made on Android to the laptop, so that the laptop can cooperate with the entire Android ecosystem without any knowledge," said Sama.
"What we are doing is basically adopting ChromeOS usage experience and re-tuning its underlying technology with Android, this combination is something we are very excited about next year, we are working with you (Qualcomm) and other partners, and can't wait to bring it to everyone," Samarite added.
In other words, Google hopes to accelerate all the AI progress made by Android to products such as Chromebooks, maintain ChromeOS usage experience, and use Android as the core to adjust the system's bottom-level technology. In this regard, it will have in-depth cooperation with Qualcomm. This is not the first time Samart has discussed this, but there is no clear explanation for how Google and Qualcomm can work together to create a new business system that combines the two major platforms.
In fact, Qualcomm has created the latest Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite platforms for Windows PCs, which are currently the most efficient chips used in laptop and electronic products. This release does not mention Google, Android or ChromeOS. If there are special chips for Android on PC in the future, I believe that it will not make consumers feel uncomfortable.
