Times: Everton makes progress in sign-free Fulham defender Tate

According to the British media Times, Everton made progress in the deal to sign Fulham defender Tate.

Tate will leave Fulham after its contract expires at the end of this month. He made 22 appearances in the Premier League last season for Fulham.

Tate joined Fulham from Lyon in September 2020, playing 121 games for Fulham, contributing 4 goals and 10 assists. Tate has played for the Dutch national team 14 times, but the most recent time goes back to March 2021.

If the transfer is successful, Tate will be Everton's second signing this summer after Carlos Alcaras. Tate will fill the vacancy left by Ashley Young and compete with Jack O'Brien and Nathan Patterson for playing time at right-back positions. Although Tate's joining has made positive progress, Everton still needs to solve the renewal of several players: the contracts of Coleman, Michael Keane, Gayer and Lewin all expire at the end of this month.

Currently Everton has offered Coleman a new contract, and negotiations with Gayer continue, while keeping in touch with Michael Keane and Lewin's agents.
