Adidas and FIFA announced the official match goal Trionda for next year's World Cup, which is officially translated as Trio Wave in Chinese. Adidas claims that the new technology of this ball will help referees make offside and handball decisions faster.
Adidas said that the official match ball for "Triple Waves" has FIFA Quality Pro-level certification, and is also equipped with Adidas' new generation of CONNECTED BALL technology, and uses an innovative side chip system. The 500Hz Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor is embedded in one of the pieces's exclusive layers, rather than the traditional central suspension method. The other three pieces are added with counterweights, aiming to ensure stability and balance in football flight.
This technology is only used during the event and can transmit accurate sphere data to the video assistant referee (VAR) system in real time, and combine player position data and artificial intelligence applications to help referees make offside decisions more quickly, providing in-depth insight into various elements in football. CONNECTED BALL technology can assist in determining each touch and reduce the time to deal with specific situations such as suspected handballs.
