Many families now raise dogs. During the breeding process, the dogs will also get sick. For example, the dog's eyes will be red, swollen and protruding. When encountering this situation, the owner will be more panicked and don't know what to do. Let's first talk about what causes red, swollen and protruding dog eyes.

1. Third eyelid protrusion

If your dog has third eyelid protrusion, you will find a mung bean-sized to soybean-sized pink thing protruding from the inner corner of the eye. As the disease progresses, it may be as big as a peanut. Its surface is smooth, moist, and tough. In this regard, owners can pay attention to observation. If it is confirmed that the third eyelid is protruding, it is recommended to take the dog to the pet hospital for examination and surgical removal.

2. Trauma

If the dog accidentally hits the eye during exercise, or is bitten by other animals, causing local tissue redness and swelling, the eye will look more prominent. In this case, the owner can give the dog anti-swelling and analgesic drugs and do anti-infection treatment. At the same time, the dog needs to wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent the dog from scratching its eyes, which will further worsen the condition. If necrosis occurs in the eye, surgery may be required.

3. Suffering from eye diseases

When dogs are infected with eye diseases such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, glaucoma, etc., their eyes will also appear red, swollen and protruding, accompanied by symptoms such as inability to open their eyes and watering of tears. If the owner observes these phenomena, he must take the dog to the pet hospital for examination and treatment in time, otherwise the dog may eventually become blind.
