There is a cat in Wellington, New Zealand, who often travels between two families. Until recently, it was discovered that he had been "running two boats" for 10 years. Both families love the cat and are coordinating who will have custody of it.
This Siamese cat was bought by a woman, Alice Alexander, in 2000 and named "Ming". "Ming" likes to stay home so much that Alexander often receives calls from neighbors saying that "Ming" has come to their house. Therefore, Alexander and his family are used to "Ming" disappearing for a period of time and then reappearing.
But gradually, "Ming" cheated on his family more and more frequently, and even disappeared forever in 2010. Alexander posted notices about his missing cat in nearby areas, but could not find any trace of Ming.
It wasn’t until May this year that Alexander’s former neighbors, the Smith family, moved back from Auckland and “Ming” appeared on the roof of Alexander’s house again. They discovered that “Ming” had been living in both her home and the Smith home. When the Smiths moved in 2010, Ming went with them and they named her Cleo.
Mrs. Smith said that she did not know that Cleo already had an owner. His husband thought it was a stray cat, so he kindly adopted it.
She said that Cleo had been part of their family for many years and they couldn't let go of it, and that he liked them and would always come home.
The future of this cat is currently uncertain. The Alexander and Smith families are negotiating who will have custody of it. However, both families said they just want the cat to be happy.
Alexander said: "It's really hard to decide. We love it and want it to be happy, but we are worried that the Smith family will move away." She also said that Ming is already 15 years old and it is time to retire and should not wander around anymore.
