Misconceptions about maintaining radiators

Misconception 1: For the sake of beauty, wrap the radiator.

Interpretation: The method of wrapping the radiator during decoration is actually very unscientific. One of the main disadvantages is that it reduces the heat dissipation of the radiator. After the radiator is wrapped, due to the reduction of air convection, its heat dissipation effect will be reduced by about 30%, resulting in energy waste. Secondly, after the radiator is wrapped, a sanitary dead corner will form in the cover, which will easily accumulate dust and breed bacterial pests. When heating begins, dust and bacteria will fly all over the house with the convection of the air, causing harm to human health. In addition, this approach will also cause problems such as deformation of the heating cover and inconvenient maintenance.

Misconception 2: Mix radiators of various materials.

Interpretation: Stop mixing radiators of various materials will cause many safety hazards, especially aluminum radiators. Be sure to pay attention to this to prevent mixing devices with products made of other materials. First of all, since the resistance coefficients of different materials are different, doing so will cause the original heating system to lose balance and form potential differences, causing the radiator with weak potential to form perforation due to electrochemical corrosion, resulting in leakage. Secondly, the diameter of the light radiator is generally smaller. If mixed with cast iron radiator, it is easy to cause system hydraulic imbalance and lack of heat in the heating.

Misunderstanding 3: Aluminum radiators are not afraid of corrosion.

Interpretation: Although aluminum radiators have strong antioxidant corrosion ability, they are prone to alkali corrosion and chloride ion corrosion. Therefore, when the water quality of the heating system is alkaline, that is, when the pH value is higher than 7, or when the chloride ion content is high, the radiator has the potential for corrosion and water leakage.

Misconception 4: Products without welds are not afraid of corrosion.

Interpretation: Some merchants who consume steel radiators mislead consumers during publicity: "The product has no weld gaps, the inner wall is lubricated, and it is not afraid of corrosion." In fact, "no weld and lubrication of inner wall" does not mean that steel radiators can be anti-corrosion. Since the corrosion of steel radiators does not occur on the weld, this is determined by the corrosion principle of steel as oxygen corrosion.

Misconception 5: The organic and inorganic coatings have the same effect.

Interpretation: The two common types of internal coating anti-corrosion in the domestic radiator market are organic coatings and inorganic coatings. Generally speaking, the cost of inorganic coatings is higher than that of organic coatings, the process is more complicated, and the process requirements are strict, and its anticorrosion effect is better than that of organic coatings. At present, there are also products that combine two processes into one on the market, which is to add another layer of organic coating to the base of the inorganic coating, so that the anti-corrosion effect of the radiator will be better.
