According to the "Daily Telegraph" report, Tottenham paid for Romero's private charter flight to avoid controversy.

Argentina will play a friendly match against Puerto Rico in Miami on Tuesday night, and then Tottenham defender Romero and Villa goalkeeper Martinez will return to England to prepare for the Premier League match between Tottenham and Villa on Sunday.

The Telegraph reported that Tottenham paid for Romero's private charter flight back to England, thereby avoiding the controversy between the club and the Argentinian team.

National teams usually arrange flights for players, but the Premier League will share the cost of private charter flights for those players whose journeys are particularly long or who return later than their teammates (such as Romero and Martinez).

After the World Cup preliminaries last September, Tottenham decided not to pay for Romero's charter flight, which triggered a dispute. Romero reposted a statement on social media, blaming Tottenham's travel plans and saying the team was at a disadvantage in the North London derby because Arsenal sent players back early.

Tottenham insisted that Romero would not have any advantage in taking a chartered flight back to England because the team had a break on Thursday before the North London derby and Arsenal's Brazilian players had already returned to the training ground. But Tottenham paid for Romero to fly back home on a private charter flight this time, which also meant that Romero did not have to worry about his schedule.
