Sun: Disney will exclusively broadcast Saturday Night La Liga in the UK and Ireland in the next 3 seasons

 1:43pm, 8 August 2025

The Sun reported that Disney+, a streaming platform under Disney, has reached an agreement to exclusively broadcast Saturday night's La Liga in the UK and Ireland in the next three seasons.

The platform has obtained the right to broadcast the 8:30 pm kickoffs every Saturday night local time. Users only need to pay a basic subscription fee of £4.99 per month to watch the performance of superstars such as Bellingham, Arnold, Yamal and Mbappe.

Former Real Madrid and England star Steve McManaman will serve as the chief commentator, and former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson will also participate in the game commentary. The live commentary will be held by Ian Dark or Robert Palmer. It is worth noting that Disney Group also owns American sports giant ESPN. This cooperation may pave the way for Disney+ to introduce more sports events. The platform has previously broadcasted F1 events in the United States.

La Liga President Tebas said at the signing ceremony: "Today, a new era of La Liga broadcast in the UK and Ireland. We are proud to open up new places with Disney+'s exclusive Saturday Night Game, which will provide an unparalleled viewing experience for La Liga fans of all ages."

The first broadcast will begin in Valencia against Real Sociedad, and the matchup between Getafe and Barcelona will be broadcast the next week.

All other La Liga events will still be broadcast by Premier Sports, and the broadcaster's partnership with La Liga has been extended until the end of the 2027-28 season. In addition to La Liga, Disney+ subscribers can also watch top women's football matches. Earlier this year, the platform announced that it would become the new broadcaster of the Women's Champions League in the next five seasons, with the event broadcasting starting in October.
