When we are sick, doctors often prescribe antibiotics to help us treat our symptoms. The pro-antibiotic is called antibiotics, which are drugs derived from microbial metabolism or chemical synthesis that can selectively inhibit bacterial growth or kill bacteria.
At very low concentrations, antibiotics can inhibit killing other microorganisms. Some antibiotics can resist viruses, tumors, parasites and other substances that are harmful to the body.
In addition to us, our cats, dogs and other pets will also get sick, and they will also use some antibiotic drugs when they are sick. For example, cats and dogs can use antibiotics after surgery to prevent wound infection. Because antibiotics have significant therapeutic effects on many pathogenic microorganisms, antibiotics are also selected by more and more shovelers.
At present, there are four categories of antibiotics commonly used in pets.
Category 1: Bactericidal drugs during breeding: penicillin, cephalosporin (pioneericin), etc. Commonly used penicillin drugs include penicillin, amoxicillin, etc.; commonly used cephalosporin drugs include cefrazidime, etc.
Class 2: Bactericides during quiescent periods: such as aminoglycosides. Commonly used aminoglycoside drugs include: streptomycin sulfate, gentamicin, etc.
Class III: Rapid antibacterial drugs: such as tetracyclines, macrolides, etc. Commonly used tetracycline drugs include tetracycline, etc.; commonly used macrolide drugs include spiromycin, etc.
The fourth category: slow-speed inhibitors: such as sulfonamides, aspergillus, etc.
Because pet antibiotics have a very significant effect on treating some diseases, more poop shovelers use pet antibiotics, which has led to the abuse of antibiotics to treat various diseases in cats and dogs.
For example, in clinical practice, there are many antibiotics used by dogs, such as cefalexin, ampicillinar, ceftriaxone, cefoquinixine, etc. Because these antibiotics target different parts, they need to prescribe the right medicine according to the symptoms that appear on the dog. When the dog has diarrhea and vomits, some poop shovelers will start buying medicine to feed the dog by themselves based on their dog's symptoms.
Although antibiotics have a great effect, the harm caused to pets by abuse of antibiotics cannot be ignored.
Abuse of antibiotics can cause the following harm to the pet.
1. Overuse of antibiotics is the main reason for the body to develop drug resistance. As antibiotics become more potent, bacterial resistance is also increasing. Abuse of pet antibiotics has enabled the original bacteria to obtain a new drug resistance mechanism and transform it into multidrug-resistant bacteria, which will increase people's risk of infection with multidrug-resistant bacteria when they come into contact with pets.
2. It is easy to cause damage to the liver and kidney function of the dog. For example, although penicillin cephalosporin antibiotics have very little impact on the liver and kidneys, they still have great side effects when used inappropriately.
When using antibiotics to pets, you should strictly obey the guidance of your pet doctor. The dosages given by pets of different sizes and breeds vary.
Also, pets cannot be fed at will with human antibiotics and other drugs. Because humans and cats and dogs have different tolerances, and individual differences are very different, no one can estimate the efficacy and consequences of the drug. If given to pets, it will have great side effects on the pets.
